I love authenticity, the incredibly rich and inescapably beautiful; the unedited, the real and the raw. Authentic beauty, in my opinion, has no expiration date and I've found that one of my biggest loves is authentically beautiful and timeless: black & white photography. It is well-known that original photographs since the 1800s were taken in black and white, however it is still incredibly popular today - and I am guilty as charged. Whilst the richness of colour in photos is capable of turning an average photo into a masterpiece, black and white photographs have always been a love of mine, whether it be a portrait, a landscape, a tender moment captured or a treasured story told. One of my favourite Christmas presents this year was a book of black-and-white London Street photographs, some of which date back to the early 1900s, and it inspired me deeply, reminding me that with each picture comes a story and a history that is not dependent on the date it was taken. The beauty of a shot transcends through colour; the beauty is the content of the shot and the colour or tone of it is simply an expression of it. To me, black and white photographs are timeless and never go out of style, always fashionable and with a story to tell. I believe these hand-picked samples mirror just that. I adore them - and hope you do too.
